3AM Madness!

Well, I just wanted to write down all my thoughts and feelings before I head to bed because I realized that it helps me sleep better at night(or morning). I'm actually really tired at the moment, but my playlist here is helping me stay awake.

Today(well, technically yesterday) I picked up the acoustic guitar again, because a friend brought his guitar over. I tried to learn a song today, and took me an hour to learn the Juno song(which was a really easy song). Hopefully, I don't forget it later today after I go to sleep. My left hand(index, middle, and ring finger) is in pain right now because my fingers aren't used to pressing down on the guitar, but I'm happy that I learned something today. :)

Thank God for music, it's such a beautiful thing. I think music is very important in our lives, it makes us who we are today. It speaks into our souls, but we also have to be careful who we give our soul to. The words in some songs we hear around us due to modern society, are possibly from the Devil! If we think about it, music makes more of an impact in our lives than we think it does. Every song we hear or listen to makes us feel a certain way about ourselves, because all human beings are naturally very conceited and we often like to relate almost everything to ourselves. This is why it's important to know what kind of music we listen to, because sometimes it will get out of hand and to the point where we are no longer able to control our own feelings.

Trust me, that's not what we really want.

Generally speaking(this does not apply for everyone), most of us listen to music that makes us sad or depressed because we feel like it relates to us(which is basically self-pity). Then we end up in the stage where music is like an escape from our problems, so we don't have to deal with them just yet. But if we're always looking for an escape, then how are we ever going to solve our problems? We'll just be stuck in the past, and never move on from our shadows. Our past is something we can't change, and we certainly don't need those songs to constantly remind us of our past where clearly we have a future that needs to focus on.

Now here's the real question.

What is the purpose of music? Music is more like therapy, it's suppose to make us feel better, happy, and alive. I'm sure that's how God want us to feel every single day, and He'll use music to speak to our hearts and souls! If we choose the right kind of music to listen to, I promise our relationship with God will grow even stronger!

I think this is also a reason why we draw closer to God during worship, but let me remind ourselves that worship doesn't stop when the music is over. Worship technically never ends, because it's in our heart. It's like the presence of God, He'll always be there.

"Someone once told me that the power in all relationships lies with whoever cares less, and he was right. But power isn't happiness, and I think that maybe happiness comes from caring more about people rather than less." - Ghost of Girlfriends Past.
